It was a 'surprise' Eid. The moon was sighted, and therefore we fasted for 29 days this Ramadhan (though some mosques in UK fasted for 30 days) and Hari Raya was therefore today.
It caught many by surprise. My house only accommodated Zeff from Lille, France and Syed from Lancaster. Byn and Qisti was supposed to come today.
Eid prayers was at the new Malaysia Hall in Bayswater, but the food, traditionally a post-prayer thing will still be served tomorrow. We then made our way to Mawar Restaurant, which hosted an 'open house' free food served and eaten on the floor (all the furniture removed) ala back home in Malaysia.
The High Commissioner also organised the usual open house at his residence in Finchley Road though I didn't stay there for long.
