British Council Seminar at the University of Essex on Malaysia
The second seminar was a huge success. Being a panellist last year and this year representing UKEC, I can testify to its improvement this year, with the theme "Capital Controls in Financial Crises: The Malaysian Experience". The two main speakers include renowned Malaysian economist Dr. Jomo KS and Bank Negara Assistant Governor Latifah Merican Cheong.
MIC London President, Ravindren Ponniah and former Suqiu activist and journalist Wong Chin Huat were the other notable people there. Ravindren was a panellist (he was on my panel last year) whilst Chin Huat chaired the roundtable discussion. He is reading for his PhD at Essex.
My role being confined to "an official representative" I had time for some picture-taking although the irritating beeps made it a bit awkward. I finally managed to switch it off just now.
